So what help is out there? At the moment I've concentrated on mainly UK charities, organisations and funding bodies but I am NO EXPERT - I would love to hear your comments in the comments section. Do you know other organisations out there, either in the UK or abroad?
If you're looking for an extra £450 a month to pay your rent when no gigs come in, you might be disappointed, but if you're about to be made homeless or you're mental health is suffering then there is some help out there.
Whatever you’re going through right now, you can contact Music Minds Matter on 0808 802 8008 or email them at MMM@helpmusicians.org.uk.
If you work in music and are struggling to cope, or know someone who is, talk to us. It doesn’t have to be a crisis, or about music. We have trained advisors that are here to listen, support and help at any time.
A community of over 31,000 musicians. Protecting members’ rights and campaigning for a fairer music industry. The Musicians Union was set up to protect the right of musicians. They negotiate and set standard minimum fees and terms of service for musicians and live bands. ... Being a member of the MU also allows you to participate in seminars and industry workshops and is great for networking.
The British Council Music team work in over 100 countries across the globe. these guys develop and support music work in a variety of ways. Although they are not a funding board they are a great place to start looking in to potential arts grants which can financially help you achieve certain objectives.
You might just be able to get these guys to fund some or all of your project. Have a look at the funding finder. Browse their funding programmes and take a closer look at key information, including key dates and eligibility criteria. In my experience it takes someone with organisation and an academic brain to fill out a fair bunch of paper work, and there's no guarantee you'll get the money, but it really is out there to be got.
Ever get that grim ringing in your ears? If not... you will...This is a scheme to give all UK musicians affordable access to specialist hearing assessments and bespoke hearing protection.
